Green Bay Packaging recently created its first reel of recycled paper at its Wisconsin plant. The mill uses a mix of OCC and mixed paper feedstock. Thanks to the boom in ecommerce and the recovering economy, OCC prices have been surging. According to Fastmarkets RISI's PPI Pulp & Paper Week, the March price of finished containerboard hit an average of $785 per ton. That was up from $765 late last year.

This new paper mill will be able to produce 685,000 tons of paper per year. The mill was designed in 2018 with the purpose of replacing a 70-year-old existing paper mill that was on its last legs. While the company had many options on whether to relocate, they ultimately decided to build the new mill adjacent to the existing one.
