Waste Pro (Longwood, FL) has begun constructing a 14,000-square-foot state-of-the-art material recovery facility (MRF) in Sarasota, FL. The MRF will employ the latest advances in single-stream technology from CP Manufacturing (San Diego, CA) to enable it to process 2,000 tons of dry recyclables per month. The equipment will include a bucket loader to transport recyclables onto in-feed conveyors and into the sorting system; a conveyor line where contaminates and bulky recyclables area removed; disc screens that detect and mechanically separate recyclables based on material, size and density; and a high-capacity baler. It is an expansion of an existing facility that opened in 2008. The project is a direct result of the need to process the large volume of recycled materials collected curbside by Waste Pro's vehicles. "We are expecting the overall amount of recyclables to increase due to the added convenience and the larger capacity of the new carts customers will be receiving," saysWaste Pro Regional Vice President Keith Banasiak. "Currently, many residents and businesses often throw recyclables in the trash when they don't fit into bins."

Waste Pro Announces the Groundbreaking of a New State-of-the-Art Material Recovery Facility in Manatee County
BRADENTON, FL - July 25th, 2016 - Waste Pro announces the groundbreaking of a new 14,000-square-foot state-of-the-art material recovery facility in Sarasota. The event will be hosted on July 27th, at 8:30 a.m. at 7921 15th St. East. Local elected officials from Manatee County and surrounding municipalities as well as leaders from Waste Pro's corporate office are expected to be in attendance.
"Waste Pro's expansion is a wonderful addition to the southern end of Manatee County," said Manatee County Commissioner, Robin DiSabatino. The facility originally opened in 2008 after a major renovation. "As promised, we are creating jobs in Manatee County," said Waste Pro Division Manager, Sean Jennings. "We are proud to have partnered with Manatee County on this recycling effort."
The project is a direct result of the need to process the large volume of recycled materials collected curbside by Waste Pro's vehicles. "We are expecting the overall amount of recyclables to increase due to the added convenience and the larger capacity of the new carts customers will be receiving," said Waste Pro Regional Vice President, Keith Banasiak. "Currently, many residents and businesses often throw recyclables in the trash when they don't fit into bins."
The SRQ Material Recovery Facility was designed by Tom Walter of the Walter Group of Sarasota and constructed by Metropole Construction of Fort Myers in preparation for Manatee County's conversion to single-stream recycling on October 1st and will be processing up to 2,000 tons of mixed glass, metals, plastics, paper and cardboard, per month, from residential and commercial sources throughout unincorporated Manatee County.
The facility is equipped with the latest advances in single-stream technology and safety from CP Manufacturing, a leading recycling manufacturer based in California, including disc screens that detect and mechanically separate recyclables based on material, size and density.
The implementation of a singlestream will enable customers to dispose of their recyclables responsibly in a larger bin without the hassle of sorting through materials manually. In addition, the advanced technologies integrated into Waste Pro's new sorting line, as well as a team of 20 employees, will ensure that the majority of the materials collected can be salvaged.
Waste Pro is one of this country's fastest growing privately owned waste collection, recycling, processing and disposal companies, operating in nine southeastern states. Serving more than two million residential and 40,000 commercial customers from over 75 operating locations, Waste Pro is headquartered in Longwood, Florida, and maintains more than 235 exclusive municipal contracts and franchises.
