WCA Acquires Automated Waste Services in Springfield, MO

WCA Waste Corp. (Houston, TX) has recently acquired Automated Waste Services (AWS) of Springfield, Missouri. AWS provides solid waste, recycling, and green waste collection to residential customers in Springfield, MO and Greene County.

WCA is an integrated waste management company with a network of 22 landfills, 24 transfer stations and 25 collection operations throughout Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. WCA Waste went private in March 2012 when it was acquired by Macquarie Infrastructure Partners for $526 million.

The funds managed by Macquarie Infrastructure Partners have ownership interests in a range of businesses, including waste services, toll roads, bridges, utilities and telecommunications infrastructure. Macquarie, which is involved in a number of landfill gas-to-energy projects, also helped Waste Industries USA, Inc. (Raleigh, NC) go private in May 2008 in a deal then valued at $544 million.

Waste Corporation of Missouri, Inc. purchased the residential customer base of Automated Waste Services (AWS) in Springfield, MO. AWS provides solid waste, recycling, and green waste collection to residential customers in Springfield, MO and Greene County. The agreement combines the strengths of WCA and AWS by leveraging WCA's resources and AWS's local industry expertise to deliver unparalleled customer service to local customers.
