Republic Services Promotes Robert Boucher to Head of Operations

Republic Services, Inc. (Phoenix, AZ) has named Robert Boucher to head of operations. He is a 21-year waste industry veteran and has been serving as head of Republic's southern region, covering eight states and Puerto Rico. Prior to joining Republic in 2010, he was CEO of Synagro Technologies Inc. "Bob is a strong leader with a passion for superior customer service and operational excellence and we look to him and the management team to continue the standard of excellence established at Republic Services," said CEO Donald Slager. Slager had also been overseeing day-to-day operations following the unexpected termination of former EVP Kevin C. Walbridge last November. Boucher's promotion paves the way for Jack Perko, previously head of the company's Midwest region, to take over the southern region. Consequently, Justin Boswell is to head the Midwest region. He most recently worked as SVP of Stanley Black & Decker Inc.

Republic Services Announces Appointment of Robert Boucher As Executive Vice President-Operations

Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE: RSG) today announced the appointment of Robert Boucher, 47, to the position of executive vice president-operations, effective August 24, 2012. As head of the company's operations, Mr. Boucher will report to Donald W. Slager, president and chief executive officer. Reporting to Mr. Boucher will be the regional senior vice presidents of operations as well as the functions of operations controller, operations effectiveness, project management office, and safety and environmental compliance.

Mr. Boucher is a seasoned leader and 21-year veteran of the waste industry. Most recently, Mr. Boucher served as senior vice president, operations for Republic Services' southern region, covering eight states and Puerto Rico.

Prior to joining Republic Services in 2010, Mr. Boucher served as president and chief executive officer of Synagro, a national company focused on water and wastewater residuals management services.

At Synagro, Mr. Boucher delivered the rapid turnaround and restructuring of under-performing areas and led a series of strategic growth initiatives. With Republic Services (and predecessor, Allied Waste), he has served as regional vice president, regional assistant vice president and, most recently, senior vice president-operations for the southern region. Mr. Boucher worked for other waste companies in progressively more responsible positions from 1989-1997.

Mr. Boucher will be relocating to Phoenix, where Republic Services is headquartered.

The position of senior vice president-operations, southern region will be filled by Republic Services veteran Jack Perko, who will move from his current post of senior vice president-operations, midwestern region. Justin Boswell has been appointed senior vice president-operations, midwestern region. Mr. Boswell joins Republic from Stanley Black & Decker. He has more than two decades of success in general management, operations, sales and finance across multiple industries.

Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE: RSG) today announced the appointment of Jack Perko, 48, to the position of senior vice president-operations, southern region effective August 24, 2012. Mr. Perko, previously head of the company's midwestern operations, will head the Houston-based operations which covers eight states and Puerto Rico. He will replace Robert Boucher, who was appointed executive vice president-operations at the company's Phoenix headquarters.

Mr. Perko began his career in the waste industry working for the Hudson Companies, which merged with Republic Waste Industries in 1995. He developed strong operational and management experience serving in a variety of roles in which he excelled. Most recently, he served as senior vice president-operations, midwestern region.

Mr. Perko received a bachelor of arts-public administration from the University of Central Florida and master of science-business management from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Mr. Perko's appointment coincides with the promotion of Robert Boucher to executive vice president-operations for Republic Services. Mr. Boucher will relocate from Republic Services' Houston-based southern region to the Phoenix headquarters. Mr. Perko will fill the position vacated by Mr. Boucher. Justin Boswell has been appointed to the position of senior vice president-operations, midwestern region, leaving his post at Stanley Black & Decker.

Mr. Boswell, previously with Stanley Black & Decker in Indianapolis, will head the company's nine-state midwestern operations headquartered in Indianapolis.

Mr. Boswell received a bachelor of business administration-finance and marketing from the University of Texas at Austin and his executive masters of business administration from Vanderbilt University.

Mr. Boswell's appointment coincides with the promotion of Robert Boucher to executive vice president-operations for Republic Services. Mr. Boucher will relocate from Republic Services' Houston-based southern region to the Phoenix headquarters. Republic Services veteran Jack Perko will move from his current post in the midwestern region to the position of senior vice president-operations, southern region. Mr. Boswell will fill the position vacated by Mr. Perko.
