Waste Management, Inc. (Houston, TX) bought a 100,000-square-foot single-stream recycling facility in Miami, FL that serves more than 1,000 commercial customers in the area from Southeastern Recycling. "The acquisition of Southeastern Recycling expands our capabilities of processing single-stream commercial and residential recycling materials and allows us to meet the growing needs of our customers in South Florida," said area vice president Tim Hawkins. "The move also helps us achieve our strategic business goals of knowing our customers and servicing them better than anyone in the industry, expanding recycling and extracting value from the materials we manage, and ensuring that waste no longer goes to waste." Nationally, Waste Management is the largest residential recycler having managed 8.5 million tons of material in 2010. The company's goal is to manage more than 20 million tons each year by 2020.

Waste Management Acquires Southeastern Recycling in Miami
Acquisition expands Waste Management's single-stream recycling capacity to meet the growing needs of its commercial customers
Waste Management Inc. of Florida has acquired Southeastern Recycling in Miami, a single-stream recycling facility serving more than 1,000 commercial customers in South Florida.
"The acquisition of Southeastern Recycling expands our capabilities of processing single-stream commercial and residential recycling materials and allows us to meet the growing needs of our customers in South Florida," said area vice president Tim Hawkins. "The move also helps us achieve our strategic business goals of knowing our customers and servicing them better than anyone in the industry, expanding recycling and extracting value from the materials we manage, and ensuring that waste no longer goes to waste."
The 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the art Southeastern Recycling facility is located at 3401 NW 110th Street in Miami. More than 100 employees process recyclable materials for Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County customers.
Waste Management's Reuter Recycling Center in Pembroke Pines is the largest residential single-stream recycling facility in the Southeastern United States and process more than 20,000 tons of materials each month. Together, the two facilities will support expanded opportunities for residential and commercial single-stream recycling in South Florida.
Nationally, Waste Management is the largest residential recycler and managed 8.5 million tons of material in 2010. The company's goal is to manage more than 20 million tons each year by 2020.
