Rumpke Consolidated Companies Inc. (Cincinnati, OH) is acquiring RLS Recycling of Chillicothe, OH which brings with it 30 waste collection vehicles, utility equipment and nearly 50 employees. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The acquisition helps Rumpke round out its service to central and southeast Ohio. In August 2009 Rumpke bought assets in northeast Ohio from Republic Services including the 300-acre Noble Road Landfill, a couple of transfer stations and a 60 vehicle-strong hauling operation serving 39,000 residential and 3,000 commercial customers in the region. RLS derives about 60% of its revenue from recycling and about 40% from waste services.

Rumpke Purchases RLS Recycling
Rumpke of Ohio, Inc., a family-owned waste and recycling firm, purchased certain waste collection, hauling, disposal and recycling assets from RLS Recycling located at 990 Eastern Ave in Chillicothe effective Jan.1, 2011.
The acquisition included about 30 waste collection vehicles and utility equipment adding to Rumpke's already existing Central and Southeast Ohio service areas in Columbus, Chillicothe, Circleville, Wellston and Georgetown, Ohio.
Rumpke has already begun serving former RLS customers and will mail notification letters to the new customers announcing the change. Rumpke will initially maintain the same collection schedule as RLS, and customer service will remain uninterrupted during the transition.

Rumpke also welcomed nearly 50 new employees from RLS, including drivers, mechanics, equipment operators, laborers and office personnel.
