Deffenbaugh Industries (Kansas City, KS) is buying Roll Off Service, Inc. and Advantage Recycling based in Bethel Heights, AR and which collectively serve 25,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and Texas. "We are committed to growing our core business of solid waste and recycling services and Roll Off Service and Advantage fit well within the long-term business model we are pursuing," John King, senior vice president of operations for Deffenbaugh. 130 employees are joining Deffenbaugh through the acquisitions.
Deffenbaugh, which touts itself as the largest privately owned refuse firm in the Midwest, has 1,900 employees operating from eight locations in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa, In 2007, the company was acquired by DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, a private equity investment affiliate of Credit Suisse.

Deffenbaugh Industries Buys Arkansas-Based Trash and Recycling Operation
Deffenbaugh Industries just announced the acquisition of Roll Off Service, Inc. and Advantage Recycling of Bethel Heights, Ark. The companies operate in Ark., Okla., Mo., Kan., and Texas. In business since 2001, they provide solid waste collection, transfer and disposal, as well as recycling services to approximately 25,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

Customers of Roll Off Service and Advantage Recycling will see no interruption in service. "This will be a seamless transition for customers and other important relationships," says King. "We retained Roll Off Service's former president, Tom Smith, to continue to work with the Deffenbaugh Industries leadership team. His familiarity with the business and the area is invaluable. Tom's involvement has been key to the successful history of the companies and we recognize that."
