Environmental Industry Associations elects new chair, treasurer and trustees to Board
Washington, DC – The Environmental Industry Associations (EIA) announced the election of Gordon Shaw as Chairman of the EIA Board of Trustees and the re-election of Charles ("Charlie") Appleby as Treasurer. Shaw is President of Marathon Equipment Co. (Vernon, Alabama), and Appleby is Chairman and CEO of Advanced Disposal Services, Inc. (Jacksonville, Fla.).
In addition to Appleby, the National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) elected two representatives and one alternate to the EIA Board of Trustees. Stephen B. Smith, President and COO of Hydro Geo Chem, Inc. (Scottsdale, Arizona), and Donald Williamson, President of West Central Sanitation (Willmar, Minnesota), will start terms as NSWMA representatives to the EIA Board of Trustees. Mary Margaret Cowhey, Vice President for Land and Lakes (Chicago, Illinois) will begin a term as the alternate to the Board for NSWMA.
In addition to Shaw, the Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC) elected one representative to the EIA Board of Trustees. Scott V. Dols, President of Trucks & Parts of Tampa (Tampa, Florida), will start a term as a WASTEC representative to the EIA Board of Trustees.
"Gordon, Charlie, Steve, Don, Mary Margaret and Scott are all great leaders, representing different aspects of the solid waste industry, said Bruce Parker, EIA's President and CEO. "They bring valuable experience and leadership to our Associations. The Board of Trustees and I appreciate their service and look forward to benefiting from their strong business backgrounds."
The new board terms start in January 2009. Trustees are eligible to serve on the Board for six years; although, they must be re-elected annually.

National Solid Wastes Management Association Re-elects Board of Governors Chair and Vice-Chair
Washington, DC – The National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) announced the re-election of Jim W. Perry as Chairman and the election of Donald Williamson as Vice Chairman to its Board of Governors. Perry is President and CEO of Waste Industries USA, Inc. (Raleigh, North Carolina), and Williamson is President of West Central Sanitation (Willmar, Minnesota).
Bruce J. Parker, NSWMA's President and CEO, stated, "I am pleased that Jim and Don have agreed to serve in leadership roles on the NSWMA Board of Governors. They repeatedly have demonstrated their commitment to the association and the industry. They exemplify the best qualities found in the leaders of our member companies."
The new board terms start in January 2009. Governors are eligible to serve on the Board for six years; although, they must be re-elected annually.

Waste Equipment Technology Association Elects New Officers and Members of Board of Governors
Washington, DC – The Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC) announced the election of Bill Wilkerson as Chairman and Robert Mecchi as Vice Chairman to its Board of Governors. Wilkerson is Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Marathon Equipment Company (Vernon, Alabama), and Mecchi is President of Perkins Manufacturing Company (Romeoville, Illinois).
In addition to Wilkerson and Mecchi, WASTEC elected representatives to its Board of Governors. Margie Campbell, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for New Waste Concepts, Inc. (Perrysburg, Ohio); Anthony F. Ciofalo, Northern Region Sales Manager for Autocar, LLC (Maple Grove, Minnesota); Daniel A. Donofrio, Manager for Vocational Sales at Sterling Truck Corporation (Redford, Michigan); and Jeffrey Swertfeger, Director of Marketing and Communications for McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (Dodge Center, Minnesota) were elected for the first time as representatives to the Board. And Melissa Gauger, Marketing Manager of International Truck and Engine Corp. (Warrenville, Illinois) was re-elected as a representative to the WASTEC Board.
Also, Craig Williams, Regional Director for the Waste Industry of Commercial Credit Group, Inc. (Madison, Wisconsin); Gaetan Bolduc, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development of Machinex Technologies, Inc. (Chicago, Illinois); Mike Savage, President and CEO of PTR Baler & Compactor Company (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania); and Phil Daetwyler, President and CEO of E-Z Pack Manufacturing, LLC (Cynthiana, Kentucky) were elected to be alternates to the WASTEC Board of Governors.
