Fortistar agrees to acquire two landfill gas to energy projects

Fortistar is pleased to announce that it has agreed to purchase two operational landfill gas to energy projects from G2 Energy, a private developer. The projects, totaling 4.8 MWs, are located in Fort Worth, Texas and Boise, Idaho. Caterpillar Financial Services is providing debt for the acquisition. The seller will retain a limited interest in the projects. The acquisition is expected to close in about thirty days. Said Tom Gesicki, President of Fortistar Methane Group, "These two projects will fit seamlessly within the operating platform of the fifty on-line landfill gas-to-energy projects we currently own."

In addition, Fortistar is providing financing and construction management for three landfill gas-to-energy projects being constructed by the seller. These projects, totaling 8.0 MWs, are located in California, Texas, and Florida. Construction of the projects should be completed late this summer. Jon Maurer, Managing Director of Fortistar commented, "We are pleased to be supportive of developers' activities."

The White Plains, New York based Fortistar will have interests in fifty-nine green / renewable projects generating the equivalent of over 370 MWs after this acquisition is completed. This makes Fortistar one of the largest owners of landfill gas projects in the country with about 12% of operating landfill gas projects. Mark Comora, President of Fortistar, stated "Fortistar's objective is to increase our country's renewable/green energy capacity. It is win-win relationships with successful developers which will be an important part of achieving this goal."
