Waste Connections Selects DriveCam to Reduce Driving Risk, Claims Costs
DriveCam Inc., a global Driver Risk Management (DRM) company, announced that Waste Connections Inc., the nation's fourth largest solid waste company, has selected DriveCam's behavior-based risk mitigation solution to improve the safety of its fleet and reduce vehicle damages, personal injury and workers' compensation claims costs associated with risky driving.
Waste Connections Inc. has begun implementing the DriveCam solution nationally across all major business lines in all four geographic regions. The company recently completed a one-year test run of the DriveCam solution in a select group of vehicles, realizing a marked increase in driver safety and exoneration of drivers who were not at fault in collisions.
"DriveCam has presented a cutting-edge solution to help us improve the overall safety performance of our fleet and reduce claims costs associated with risky driving," said Ken Rose, senior vice president, Waste Connections Inc. "Results and feedback from our management team and drivers have been overwhelmingly positive."
Regarding the decision to deploy DriveCam, Rose added, "DriveCam's cellular technology and Web-based software is making it easy to deploy across a range of operating environments and still maintain the cross-corporate standards that are important to Waste Connections."
"With large vehicles and a mix of stop-and-go driving in densely populated areas, solid waste fleets have many safety challenges," said Bruce Moeller, president and CEO of DriveCam. "We are proud to have Waste Connections - an innovative and fast growing leader in the solid waste industry - as part of our client portfolio. DriveCam's solution enables clients like Waste Connections to proactively protect the safety of their drivers and the communities they serve by identifying and correcting risky driving behaviors."
