Revised Waste Industry Standards Now Available at WASTEC

The Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC), Washington, D.C., is pleased to announce that three revised waste industry standards have been approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI):

  • ANSI Z245.30: Waste Container - Safety Requirements;

  • ANSI Z245.60: Waste Containers - Compatibility Dimensions; and

  • ANSI Z245.1: Mobile Wastes and Recyclable Materials Collection, Transportation, and Compaction Equipment - Safety Requirements.

WASTEC continues to develop recommendations on the latest safety requirements in waste industry equipment and products," said Gary Satterfield, WASTEC's Executive Vice President. "ANSI standards provide a base line on safety for manufacturers and users that ensures a level playing field and an overall understanding on how to handle equipment."

All three standards are revisions to the 1999 editions of the standards. New requirements for ANSI Z245.30 include updated three-panel safety labels and warning signs for waste containers and for ANSI Z245.60 new compatibility dimensional requirements for front loader and hook lift containers.

ANSI Z245.1 incorporates safety requirements for manufacturers and operators of automated side loading and grapple loading equipment. The standard also incorporates safety requirements for manufacturers and users of front loader vehicles designed to limit access to the top of vehicles. Cart lifter safety requirements currently part of ANSI Z245.30 have been merged into this standard.

The revised standards can be purchased through the WASTEC Publications Department at 800-424-2869 or pubsales@envasns.org.

WASTEC is the trade association for the solid waste and recycling equipment industry. Members include equipment manufacturers, distributors, consultants, and service providers.
