McDowell County West Virginia Opens New 600 Thousand Ton per Year Landfill

McDowell County West Virginia recently cut the ribbon on a new 175-acre 50,000 ton per month landfill near the town of Welch. The $24 million Copper Ridge Landfill will be operated by Manassas, Va.-based EnviroSolutions Inc. will initially only accept wastes from the county, but will eventually accept out-of-state waste by rail. Negotiations continue on the rail aspect of the project. McDowell County has been working since 1988 to develop the landfill.
