Ze-gen welcomes John P. Harper to the team as Vice President of Finance & Treasurer
Ze-gen, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of John P. Harper to the company as Vice President of Finance & Treasurer. Mr. Harper will oversee Ze-gen's financing activities.
John Harper has brought to Ze-gen over 20 years of experience in financing clean and traditional power generation and other infrastructure projects. He has worked with private power developers, equity investors, lenders, and state and municipal entities. Mr. Harper has structured financing for utility-scale and community clean power projects involving a variety of technologies, including wind, photovoltaic, biomass, land-fill gas and cellulosic ethanol projects.
Mr. Harper joins Ze-gen from Birch Tree Capital, LLC, where he was the founder and principal. Birch Tree is an independent financial advisory firm facilitating the financing of clean power generation projects. While at Birch Tree Capital, Mr. Harper advised on equity investments in multiple clean power projects and co-authored several major reports on financing strategies for renewable power projects. Clients included AEGON USA, PowerLight Corporation, Mascoma Corporation, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, the Cape Light Compact, the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust, and several other wind, photovoltaic, and other clean power developers. Prior to founding Birch Tree Capital, Mr. Harper structured financing for domestic and international power projects with various developers and lenders, including enXco, Inc., ABB Structured Finance, Wärtsilä Corporation, and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
