IESI Corporation Acquires Allied Waste Industries' New York City Commercial Hauling Operations

IESI Corporation ("IESI") announced today that it has acquired the New York City commercial waste hauling operations of Allied Waste Industries, Inc., of Phoenix, Arizona.

"We are pleased with this acquisition as the integrated operations will provide improved density and efficiencies to our current operations in the New York City market," said Mickey Flood, IESI's President and Chief Executive Officer.

IESI entered the New York City market approximately ten years ago and continues to be committed to serving, and being an active participant in, the City.

The Bloomberg Administration has recently been studying the rate cap system for commercial waste collection in place since 1999. "We and many in our industry hope that the Bloomberg Administration will come to the only logical conclusion possible - that the rate cap must be radically changed," Mr. Flood commented. "This is necessary to allow collectors to continue to provide quality waste collection and disposal services to the businesses in New York City at reasonable rates."
