Cleantech Venture Investments Reach a Record $2.9 Billion in 2006

An industry research group reports that North American venture capital investment in clean technologies has reached a record $2.9 billion in 2006. This says the Cleantech Venture Network® is a 76% increase over 2005 where investments in the category reached $1.6 billion. Energy-related investments accounted for $2.1 billion, or 74%, of the 2006 levels. "While energy was certainly the top area of interest, some other categories posted good gains as well," said Nicholas Parker, chairman and co-founder of the firm. TransLoad America Buys Railcars From National Steel Car

TransLoad America which aims to be a leader in rail-based transfer and disposal of waste recently inked a deal to purchase up to 1,200 gondola railcars. The company also recently purchased landfills in Ohio and Utah and owns rail-accessible transfer stations in the Northeast and Midwest to feed them.
