Anthony Richardi, and his company, Earth Technology II LLC, recently pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges and have agreed to pay at least $500,000 in fines. They admitted to inflating charges to state and federal agencies for environmental cleanup work at the contaminated Hull Dye site in Derby between 1999 and 2002. Richardi could receive a maximum prison sentence of up to one year and a maximum personal fine of up to $100,000. Two other former partners, Frank Ruocco and John Ahern, may also be implicated in the investigation. Former DEP supervisor Benedict York Jr. may also be implicated in a larger investigation into whether Ruocco's companies did free or cut-rate private work at York's West Haven home in exchange for lucrative DEP work. The cost of that private work may have been billed to the Hull Dye cleanup project.
