Senator Thune Introduces Bill to Help Track Hazardous Wastes

Senator John Thune (R-SD) wants to bring waste management into the 21st century by creating an electronic clearing house of hazardous wastes. He and cosponsor, Senator Jim Jeffords (I-VT) recently introduced the Hazardous Waste Electronic Manifest Establishment Act (S. 3871), legislation that would "amend the Solid Waste Disposal Act to direct the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to establish a hazardous waste electronic manifest system." The bill was referred to the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
