Waste Management and Macomb County Agree to Limit Canadian Imports
Macomb County (www.macombcountymi.gov) and Waste Management (www.wm.com) appear to be close to a deal whereby the company's Pine Tree Acres landfill will reduce Canadian imports in exchange for county permission to expand. Under the proposed agreement, the Pine Tree Acres landfill would reduce acceptance of waste originating in Canada from 80% of current volume down to 25%. SDG&E Adds 20 Megawatts of Renewable Biomass Energy
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) has contracted to purchase 20 megawatts (MW) of biomass electricity from Bull Moose Energy LLC (BME), beginning in 2008. The Bull Moose Energy facility, expected to be located in the southern area of San Diego County, will gasify green waste to generate electricity, enough to power 13,000 homes.
