New York Gov. George Pataki hopes to increase funding for the state's Environmental Protection Fund by $30 million in the upcoming fiscal year. The 20 percent increase would bring the total funding to $180 million, but requires approval from the state Legislature. The fund aids recycling programs, pollution reduction efforts, and open space preservation.
