Weyerhaeuser Co. has indefinitely shut down its recycled containerboard machine in Plymouth, N.C. and may permanently stop production at the site. The machine, which is now 48 years old, creates linerboard from recycled fiber, and has a capacity of 350,000 tons per year. Weyerhaeuser chairman, president and CEO Steven Rogel said the company has determined that the Plymouth machine does not operate in an economically feasible manner, and plans to shut the machine permanently.
