Hewlett-Packard Increases Recycling Rate By 17 Percent In 2005

Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) has recycled approximately 140 million pounds of hardware and print cartridges in the company's fiscal year just ended. HP notes that the total marks an increase of 17 percent over 2004, and equates to the weight of 280 jumbo airliners. HP also collected more than 2.5 million units of hardware to be refurbished for resale or donated. HP has now recycled more than 750 million pounds of hardware and print cartridges globally, and appears on track to meet its goal of recycling 1 billion cumulative pounds by the end of 2007.
