The EPA has filed its final hazardous waste combustor MACT (Maximum Achievable Control Technology) emissions standards for U.S. facilities. A total of 267 facilities across the country, including an estimated 100 to 150 newly subject to the rule, will have three years to reach compliance. In addition to incinerators, lightweight aggregate kilns, and cement kilns that burn hazardous waste, the final rule also affects halogen acid furnaces and solid and liquid fuel industrial boilers that burn hazardous waste.
