Nashua, N.H. (www.ci.nashua.nh.us) Mayor Bernie Streeter has sought to raise up to $2 million by opening the city's landfill to waste outside Nashua's borders. But the city's board of public works voted down the plan, even though the mayor had hoped it would help close a looming $3.8 million solid waste budget deficit. The landfill has an estimated 25 years of life remaining.
