W.R. Grace & Co. (www.grace.com) and seven of its current or former executives have been charged with conspiring to endanger residents in Libby, Montana (www.libbymontana.com) and concealing health risks from asbestos-contaminated vermiculite, according to the U.S. Justice Department (www.usdoj.gov). The 10-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury charges t he defendants with conspiracy, clean-air violations, wire fraud and obstruction of justice involving asbestos-related diseases which were linked to its former vermiculite mining and processing operations in Libby. Grace has countered in a statement that it "categorically denies any criminal wrongdoing," and that it continues to provide assistance for the long-term health care of Libby residents.
