Waste Connections Inc. has reported that third-quarter profit rose 32 percent. For the three months ended Sept. 30, the company's earnings rose to $22.5 million, or 46 cents per share, from $17 million, or 37 cents per share, a year ago. Sales rose 13 percent to $165.4 million from $146.2 million, and according to company officials was the result of a focus on tailoring services to different local markets.
