In a move not altogether surprising since his demotion, industry maverick Tom Van Weelden has resigned from his posts at Allied Waste to "pursue other interests." Charles H. Cotros, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer said, "We thank Tom for all of his contributions to Allied Waste, and wish him much success in the future." Mr. Cotros will serve as President, as well as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer.
