The Simi Valley (Calif.) Landfill has purchased 2,800 acres in a move to double its capacity. The landfill itself will expand from 185 to 400 acres, which will increase its volume from 3,000 to 6,000 tons per day. As part of the expansion, the city must complete an environmental impact report, comply with the California Environmental Quality Act, and win the approval of Ventura County's Board of Supervisors.
