The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has ordered the Greenridge Reclamation Landfill in Westmoreland County to pay a $205,000 civil penalty for violations including failure to control odors. State officials began documenting odor issues at the landfill in early 2003, and later began receiving complaints. According to the state, Greenridge also failed to install radiation equipment on schedule, and failed to adequately train its employees in performing radiation monitoring procedures.
