Amstar Envirochem, Inc. has announced its development of a chemical process that eliminates PCBs from surfaces quickly, efficiently and safely, according to the company. Company officials said the technology, which holds a U.S. patent, creates an entirely new PCB remediation industry. The company tested its ability on decommissioned U.S. Naval vessels as part of the Navy's Ship Disposal Program, and found a 99.9 percent effectiveness in eliminating PCBs on all treated components.
