Waste Services, Inc. (Nasdaq: WSII) has reported financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2004. Revenue for the quarter increased by $41.3 million, or 132%, to $72.6 million in 2004, as compared to $31.3 million during the same period in 2003. The company attributes the increase to a series of new acquisitions in the United States. Operating income was $8.7 million, as compared to $3.5 million last year. The net loss for the quarter was $18.6 million, or 21 cents per share, versus a loss of $16 million, or 42 cents per share, in the same quarter of last year.
