Poll Finds Pennsylvanians Against Waste Bond Plan

A statewide poll conducted by Public Opinion Strategies for the Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association indicates that state voters believe Governor Ed Rendell's proposed $5 per ton increase in trash collection fees is in effect a tax increase. In addition, 71 percent opposed the environmental bond issue once they understand it would be paid for by homeowners and businesses. The poll for PWIA surveyed 600 likely voters in Pennsylvania and has an error margin of plus or minus 4 percent.
