The group that administers the GEMS Landfill Superfund site in Camden County, N.J. will have to disclose its finances. The federal Environmental Protection Agency has begun an audit of the GEMS Phase II Trust, which has proposed a controversial plan to discharge contaminated groundwater from the site into Camden's sewer system. The EPA has supported the plan, but local residents fear that residents could be exposed to radioactivity if the sewers back up, and want the waste treated on-site.
