Habitat For Humanity Affiliates Reach Record Recycling Levels

As a result of a partnership with the aluminum industry, Habitat For Humanity affiliates earned an additional $1.4 million in 2003. Under the partnership, entitled Cans for Habitat, affiliates recycled more than $1.3 million in aluminum cans. Between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2003, 17 affiliate grant winners recycled more than 550,000 pounds of aluminum cans, generating almost $210,000 in revenue for local Habitat programs, a 370 percent increase over 2002. Waste Connections Reports Fourth Quarter, Year-End Results

Waste Connections, Inc. (NYSE: WCN) has announced fourth quarter earnings of $0.57 per share on 33.1 million diluted shares, an increase of 21.3% over diluted earnings per share of $0.47 in the fourth quarter of 2002. Revenue for the fourth quarter of 2003 was $150.0 million, a 14.2% increase over revenue of $131.3 million in the same quarter of 2002. Operating income for the fourth quarter of 2003 was $37.0 million, a 12.7% increase over $32.8 million in the 2002 quarter. For the year ended December 31, 2003, revenue was $563.5 million, a 13% increase over revenue of $498.7 million in 2002. Shreveport Landfill Expansion Plans Currently On Hold

Plans to expand Shreveport, Louisiana's Woolworth Road Landfill by another 660-plus acres have stalled because the $2.8 million asking price is more than state law permits the city to spend. The state forbids Shreveport from spending more than the assessed value on the property, a figure that would put the price at $2 million. Barlow Wins Harrisburg Incinerator Retrofit Contract

Barlow Projects has won a contract to retrofit and modernize the recently closed Harrisburg, Pa. waste-to-energy facility. The Harrisburg facility, one of the oldest WTE facilities in the United States, was closed last summer because it could not comply with new Clean Air Act requirements for municipal waste combustors. The project has been financed as part of a $125 Million bond issue. Barlow's retrofit will take approximately 24 months to complete, and will begin in January 2005. Anscott Introduces Environmentally Friendly Solvent

Anscott Industries, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: ASCT.OB) has launched a new product named Hydroclene Dry Cleaning Solvent. Earthfirst Licenses Tire Recycling Technology For Mexico

EarthFirst Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: EFTI) and Proveedor Especilzado en Productos Ecologios Reciciables International, LLC have signed a licensing agreement giving PEPER the sole right to own EFTI tire recycling plants in the country of Mexico. EFTI's tire recycling technology allows shredded rubber tires to be processed and reduced to carbon, oil, gas and steel; its original components. Casella And Templeton, Mass. Work Toward Agreement On Landfill

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CWST), has announced that it will seek to work with officials from the Town of Templeton, Mass. to reach an agreement to remediate the town's old landfill and construct an adjacent facility. The announcement follows Templeton's approval of an article banning out-of-town waste. Town voters have also voted to abolish the town's landfill enterprise fund, and fees paid to the town from the landfill will now go directly into Templeton's general fund.
