A federal grand jury has issued a subpoena for information on a controversial Livingston Parish landfill's expansion permit, after the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality permitted the expansion. The expansion will allow the 100-acre Woodside Landfill, which accepts industrial and municipal waste, to expand by another 140 acres. Opponents to the expansion had previously said they would appeal the permit to the state district court, on the grounds that groundwater issues were not properly considered.
