The Ohio EPA closed the Crossridge Landfill in Steubenville twenty years ago, but the state now says the site failed to follow proper procedures when closing. Now, WTOV-9 has reported that the landfill's owners, C&D Disposal Technologies, will pay $500,000 in fines. The owners must also file a plan to monitor gases and leachate. The owners must also ensure that cleanup funds are secured and available for the proper closure to take place.
