American Ecology Corporation has announced that for the twelve months ending December 31, 2002, the company posted operating income from continuing operations of $8.9 million. This was an increase of $5.8 million, or 187%, over the $3.1 million operating income from continuing operations reported in 2001. Reported financial results for the quarter and year ending December 31, 2002 include $7.0 million in charges for discontinued operations at the company's Oak Ridge, Tennessee subsidiary.
