The cities of Akron and Cuyahoga Falls and Waste Management have announced that there will be no expansion of the now-closed Hardy Road landfill, bringing to an end a contentious issue that has divided the cities. Akron and Waste Management plan to build a garbage-transfer station in South Akron. For now, Summit County's trash will be shipped to a landfill in Stark County and perhaps elsewhere.
