Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE: RSG) has reported that first quarter revenue increased 3.1 percent to $551.9 million, from $535.4 million for the same period in 2001. Net income for the first quarter increased 10.7 percent to $54.9 million, or $0.32 per share, compared to $49.6 million, or $0.29 per share, last year. Operating income for the first quarter was $106.9 million, compared to $98.9 million for the same quarter last year.
