WTERT Council Bi-Annual Meeting

Date: Oct. 16-17, 2008

Location: Columbia University, New York City, NY

Mark in your calendar that the next bi-annual WTERT meeting at Columbia will be held on Thursday-Friday of October 16-17, 2008. The format will be the same as in past years: A full day meeting on Thursday beginning with continental breakfast and ending with a gala dinner with view of the Manhattan skyline; and a closing session in the morning of Friday, October 17. As in recent past years, the dinner will be sponsored by the Solid Waste Processing Division of ASME International. The technical program will feature invited speakers presenting on some of the foremost technologies and developments in the world; plus an update on the research efforts of WTERT and the Earth Engineering Center to advance the goals of sustainable waste management worldwide.

WTERT is making progress in developing sister groups at other countries, including some developing nations where the need for sustainable waste management is very pressing. For example, see www.wtert.cn, the web page under development by our good partners in China, the Chongqing University of Science and Technology. Chinese members who would like to become members of WTERT CHINA and link their web pages to the new web page, please send an e-mail directly to Prof. Ding Youqing at dingyouqing@msn.com.

We have also made some progress with the WTERT-CANADA page, see www.wtert.ca. Canadian members who would like to link to this new web page, please write to "Alexander Themelis" (webmaster@wtert.ca).

WTERT will help with advice and software people who would like to develop similar groups and web pages in other countries.
